Mrs. Spears from Panama City FL is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 10 -12" boogie board writing LCD tablets in order to show their work in math as well as use for class flash boards during spelling.

I have twenty students who love learning and are so excited about sharing what they know with others. They are always sharing their work with their classmates as well as myself. Showing how they get an answer or working together with their peers is so exciting as you see them sharing and discussing. Learning is so much fun when it is shared with others.
Many times the students will have problems with their dry erase markers drying out, or dry erase boards getting so dirty that they can not complete the task.
Yet they still try to share what they know with the lack of properly functioning tools.
I have a mixed group of students which include ESE students and students who are functioning below grade level. Yet, this does not stop them from trying to do their best. They have developed a growth mindset which gives them the, "I don't get it now, but I will keep trying" attitude. When using the dry erase boards they are able to work with their partners and share their work and encourage each other throughout the learning process. I am so extremely proud of my first graders.
The use of whiteboards is a daily activity in our first grade classroom, especially in math. Students use the whiteboards for guided practice and to show their work. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. It also allows for students to share their work with peers. The problem is the markers dry out very fast, and erasers seem to disappear or become so dirty with the marker debris that they become unusable. As well, the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use. When their tools do not work, students have to be given another marker, eraser or convert back to pencil and paper. Although we have established a procedure for replacement, it does take away time from their learning. Even though they are great about doing this, it is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues and they miss important instruction from either myself or other students. By having the ten requested LCD writing tablets, my students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning.
By donating to our project, you will help students to stay engaged and focus on learning and not the functioning of their tools.
Also, using technology increases their desire to use 21st Century tools which enhances their desire to learn. They also become so excited about using technology in the classroom.
