Two third of students are second generation immigrants that their parents moved to the United States of America in young age. Even though my students were born in the United States of America and they are considered English Only students they still need a lot of help in learning standard English. One third remaining are English Learners who are learning standard English at school.
My students need the help because both parents are working in most cases, and the grandparents are taking care of their grand babies.
Since grandparents are not fluent English speakers they speak their native language with the grand kids.
Most of my students have low socioeconomic status and they get free breakfast, lunch, and after school programs, which means they see their parents very little and there isn't much communication between my students and their parents.
My Project
The iPads will help my students to be able to use 18 robots that was donated by Dr. Gibson to my students in Los Angeles Unified School District.
Since we need 1.4 million computer programmers in the future, according to national research sone by code.org, I see the need for me to make share that my students are ready for the work force waiting for them after they are done by grade school and ready to go to college.
Reasearch shows that students don’t go to computer programming and coding if they are not exposed to the programming and coding in early grades. Exposing students in elementary will help students to be familiar with computer programming and coding in middle schools they can choose the computer programming and coding classes to create and program computer designed materials and services.
By exposing students in early ages will help our country to have the 1.4 million work force in computer programming that are waiting for our students.
