My Students

My students read to learn! I am their school library media specialist. We have a beautiful 5 year old library.

My students love coming to library to find great books, learn new technologies and find information for their classes or for fun.

Our school is very large, we have over 900 students and 7-8 classes at each grade level. Our school is a K-4 elementary school with a high percentage of students living below poverty level. We also have a very diverse student population and many English Language Learners. They have a variety of reading levels, interests, learning styles..

My Project

Currently, my students have one Dash and one Dot robot to code. Tech classes are forty minutes once a week for 2 quarters. This small amount of time limits the time each student has programming the bots.

The Coding Robot & Action Challenge Accessory Packs will provide more time for students to experience hands-on robotics.

Students love creating code to make Dash and Dot perform. With multiple sets of Botley Packs we can really showcase student programming.

Connecting the robot activity with a theme will help students understand a variety of curriculum related topics. For example, What could a robot do to help ease the hardships people endured during Westward expansion?
