My Students

I teach at a public charter high school (9-12) situated in the delta of the Mississippi. Art is very important to our communities, not only music but also the visual arts, especially after Hurricane Katrina struck the city and left us mainly with art to express our feelings. Three arts credit are a graduation requirement, and the visual arts classes are always sought out.

One of our students may be the Picasso of the 21st century, but we will not know it until we get them the supplies that they need to express their talent.

All are creative, curious, enthusiastic and eager to produce beautiful art work.

My Project

My arts students and I often cooperate with the theater program to produce the sets, the backdrops and decorations.

This time, the drama teacher asked us to make some costumes shine.

The drama troupe is preparing to present Chicago.

This is why I'm kindly asking you, Donors, to please participate in this project. Thanks to your generosity, my students will learn to apply what they learn in class to a real-life project. They will learn about (haute!) couture and perhaps get interested in clothe design and fashion. They will learn how to work with others around a large project. Being able to work with others is a fundamental skill that is transferable to almost any job.
