Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Many of my students come from low-income families, and all the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. This background can mean that students’ families cannot afford to purchase needed school supplies.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible so that they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My Project
My kindergarten students are energetic five and six year old children. This means they often would rather work while sitting on the floor, instead of sitting at their desks in regular chairs. Generally, they are able to focus extremely well when they are allowed to sit in a place that they consider comfortable, such as the floor. However, they can have difficulty doing this because they do not have a stable surface to write on or a place to put their Chromebooks.
I am requesting four innovative The Surf Portable Lap Desks so my students can have comfortable areas on the floor where they they can complete their class or computer work.
Each day, my students complete school tasks that require them to write on paper. They also use their Chromebook daily to work on literacy and math related programs, including Compass Learning, Zearn Math and RAZ-Kids Reading. These programs are awesome because they are individualized and each student works on skills that are on their level, which is extremely beneficial to students who need more support or challenge. These floor lap desks will help my students focus on their learning, while having an alternative place to sit. We currently have one of these lap desks in our classroom and we would love for you to help us get four more!
Thank you for taking the time to read my project idea!
