Let Us Learn To Garden and Compost In Kindergarten
Help me give my students the love of nature and the thrill of understanding the life cycle of a plant by planting seeds and a better way to take care of waste through the composting with compost bin.
Through the materials that we are requesting for our Kindergarten students will make a difference for many reasons. This will promote hands on learning where students will learn how to compost items.
It also encourages science education because they are exploring biological processes such as decomposition and plant life cycles first hand.
It will also teach them about environmental awareness and problem solving skills. We are also bringing in real life connections to engage them!
A lot of us throw our trash and recycling out without a second thought. Our young learners are no different. A compost container will help them see what really happens to the scraps they throw. The books will help give more information.
Our students love gardening, they will learn the cycle starts from the seed, to the plant, to food they get to eat, then to compost and back again. By planting seeds in our indoor garden they will be able to experience this. This will teach the children on an age appreciate level the science behind the garden life cycle.
This project will give the student more hands-on gardening and composting on a daily basis. This experience will increase the students' knowledge of how to grow food and they may even be inspired to garden at home!
