Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Diversity! That's what I love about the school where I teach. My students come from all around the world and from different cultures.

Our students are hungry to learn and love growing as scholars.

For most of our students, school is the safest place to be. They know this is a place where they will be loved and will learn. Our students come from so many different places such as Africa, Asia, Mexico, and all over the United States. These students speak more than 10 different languages. Also, 98% of our students are receiving free or reduced-price lunches. These students do not have a chance to have very many life experiences or technology in their homes and rely on us to give them these things at school.

My Project

I have a lively group of 4th graders. We are learning to read and think critically. I have moved into a new room and have a new horse shoe table where we work in small groups learning how to be a reader. We work on comprehension and grammar. My students learn so much better when they are in small groups.

At our horseshoe table we have terrible stools, and they are peeling and falling apart!

We are down to two the children can still sit on.

We could really use some better stools to rest our legs while we read. My students will have much better stamina if they are comfortable. Please help us get some new stools to help us concentrate on our reading and not our tired legs.
