This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is located in a community that has many daily challenges. There are high crime and poverty. There are not many recreational experiences available to our students. Our students need programs that provide a challenging and positive experience. Our student-athletes are special because they are excited about their future even though statistics show and others see their futures as bleak. They enjoy playing ball and look forward to coming to practice. Our coaches often pay for the materials for our team out of their own pockets!
My Project
Donations to this project will mean a lot to the student-athletes. It is important for the team to have consistent practices to better their basketball skills and create a strong team. The student-athletes need access to the hoops and practice is sometimes. The current coaches of the Tigers use their own finances to help out their team with the products they need. Basketballs and bags will allow my students to feel like a real team. The student-athletes feel good about being able to play a game they enjoy and they are learning social skills that are essential for collaborating with others.
