Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a small, Title I-funded charter school with over 60% poverty. Sixty percent are English language learners (or non-English speaking), and there are high trauma rates.
My students are eager to learn and grow!
I want them to be excited to come to school, to feel welcomed, included, encouraged, and supported.
My Project
This project has a little bit of everything. The bulk of this project is for the fun stuff. We made sure we had the things that we needed for our classroom, now we could use some things that we want.
Recess is important for these students to give their brains a break.
We have some indoor and outdoor recess activities that they would love to play with. We have a large blacktop area but nothing to do with it. The outdoor chalk and jump ropes will help utilize that space.
Other items in this project include various things we could use or need to replace already such as beads, pom-poms, storage items, and laminating sheets.
