Let the Students Own Their Learning!

Help me give my students responsibility and ownership in their learning by helping me to organize their building materials into the 6-Drawer chests I have chosen. In addition, the emergent level texts will support them as developing readers!

My Students

My wonderful students love to explore, create, build and learn. They often ask questions that make me ponder, come up with ideas that inspire and are the most thoughtful, caring group of students I have ever had the pleasure of teaching. I am reminded daily of how incredible they are by their willingness to share, help each other and grow together.

The cooperation, trust, communication and perseverance that is evident during problem-solving projects is not only beneficial for the success and learning related directly to the project at hand, but more importantly, to the growth and investment in each child as they grow to be contributing members of our society.

Building strong bridges, designing successful parachutes and problem-solving through our school year requires supplies! I am often able to purchase the building supplies and materials at local thrift stores or even more resourcefully, recycle materials like empty bottles with lids, scraps of fabric, used cd's and cases when possible. With this project, I would like to provide my students with an organized space to store such materials so they are able to collect, sort and utilize materials responsibly.

My Project

Students will be able to determine the materials they need for each cooperative project we do. Students will then be able to independently gather and organize the materials in the purchased storage drawers. When students are finished with materials, they will be able to independently return materials in order to use for future projects. This process and thorough organization will allow for student-driven problem-solving as well as ease the process for these projects as the students will be able to determine and gather materials necessary to complete their task. Thank you for your consideration in helping the students of our world grow. We appreciate you!
