Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our students in Flint, MI., are so resilient and persevere through the some of the toughest situations. This is what I love about my students at my school. My students often have never taken music classes in their lives and finish out their semesters playing shows for sold out seating.

What makes them special is that these songs are not easy and mostly chosen by them.

The songs are by artists such as The Temptations, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder and more. Music takes a lot of maintenance such as replacing cables that eventually break and replacing batteries in wireless microphones.
