We live in a wide, interesting world with many different people and cultures. As a General Music teacher, my job is to broaden horizons, foster creativity, and inspire students in the arts. To present ideas and styles effectively, I need the assistance of technology that can reach those students.
Students at my school come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, which creates a very diverse educational climate.
They are talented, bright, and interested in learning about the world in which they live. I have really enjoyed teaching in this district; coming from so many different kinds of family histories, students approach music with a wealth of knowledge and prior experiences, making the classroom experience extremely rich. Students are enthusiastic about new experiences; instead of rejecting things that may be "different" than anything they have see or heard before, students approach material with an open mind.
A large percentage of our student body qualifies for free or reduced meals; there is also a large ESL population. Again, these differences make our school a uniquely positive and diverse environment for learning.
My Project
When these computer speakers are combined with my digital projector in my classroom, students will be able to be immersed in a variety of media on a daily basis; instead of just hearing famous musicians play, they will watch the footage with the audio. Lessons will be enhanced with audio cues built into presentations. Students will be able to compose on my laptop in class and immediately hear the results as a class! Countless high quality (and free) resources are available on the world wide web, and the combination of these speakers with my projector (and laptop) will bring a more complete world into my classroom to inspire my students.
Please help inspire my students; with these speakers, I can inspire students to learn more about the world around them and explore the development of their own understanding and abilities.
By exposing them to the greatness that man has already achieved, they can only aim higher for our future!
