My Students

I teach fifth grade in a very special, very diverse Title I school. Many students are English learners, and my class this year will also be collaborative with Exceptional Education students. The students work incredibly hard and want to learn as much as they can.

My Project

Our students have not had a regular school year for two years! Teachers and staff are highly focused on the social and emotional learning of all students. What better way to feel a sense of belonging and practice social skills than to pair fifth-grade mentors up with Kindergarten and first-grade students? Pairs meet up at least once a week to set personal goals for the week and build relationships.

Kindergarten and first-grade mentees will benefit socially and emotionally, while the fifth-grade mentors will have a great chance to show leadership in our school.

Games, blocks, and puzzles will be a great way for students to bond and get to know each other throughout the school year.
