This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My title is "traveling music teacher" working for a large school district of Los Angeles county, serving every day at a different school location as an itinerant vocal/general/choral music teacher, in a low income, south and southeast LA area.
Although my students come mostly from bilingual households and financially troubled families, they all have "sharpe" eyes, ears and brain...! They all are like any other children in the world, eager to learn, ready and anxious to achieve, succeed and have their own places in their lives.
I am one of many inspirational teachers, trying hard to give these students a chance to get the best there is out there to help expedite their learning and give them many skills as possible to become productive members of the future generation.
My Project
During our music lessons, and as we get closer to stage performances, we use microphones for the student soloists. Thanks to the prior DonorsChoose successfully funded project, we have several quality wireless headset microphones for our school's major assemblies and musical performances. But, behind the stage, there is a stationary board for only a few microphones.
The portable Yamaha MG16-Channel Mixer will give more opportunities to individual students' voices, as the use of our cordless headset microphones will be maximized, and students will be heard uninterruptedly, through balanced sound production.
During our Winter Holiday, Black History Month and Spring Multicultural and Patriotic Programs, the extensive use of this microphone technology brings out the best talents of our students in magically expressive ways.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
