I teach entry-level kindergarten students in a rural community. They are eager and interested learners. Finally, our learners are attending school IN-PERSON!
Due to minimal exposure during Covid-19, my kindergarteners have missed the vitally important prior knowledge/experiences that help them make connections for academic progress.
Independence through hands-on learning will help my students develop skills needed to make connections, progress, and become successful self -driven learners.
Thank you!
My Project
Students will use the shelf to select independent and small group discovery center activities. The activities will promote additional practice for math, literacy, science, art, and social studies. The shelf will be organized with differentiated, hands-on learning activities that students can select (according to interest and developmental level) for independent work stations and small groups. Students can also access the discovery center activities as “morning bins” upon their arrival to encourage a playful practice of foundational learning skills on their own. Student engagement will be supported by self-selection of developmentally appropriate activities.
