Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work for a Title 1 school. Our students come from all ranges of socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school offers free breakfast and lunch to all of our students due to the huge need. Some kids aren't able to buy all of their supplies. I, like many other educators in the building, are working with a very strict budget and while we would love to provide our students with all the things they deserve and need to nurture their creativity, it is hard. This is especially true when we do not have the financial resources that other schools have. Donors help bring smiles to my students' faces every day through the donations made and the materials purchased through DonorsChoose.

My Project

My students are so creative, I would love to harness that creativity by utilizing stem resources that will allow them to create any idea they come up with. I would love to have some building resources to allow my students to create and build during free time, especially for those early finishers.

These resources could inspire a future engineer, architect, or mathematician.

My students are always asking for tools to create and while they do use our “STEM” bin for creating contractions, I would love to see what kind of amazing things they could create with actual tools and idea books. I also have a few students in mind that I would love to keep their hands busy while learning. My students with SED and ADHD find it relaxing to focus on building things, and these resources would allow for that as well. Finding multiple uses for the resources we have is what teaching and learning is all about. Help me bring these resources to students to enjoy for years to come.
