My students need to build their imagination and creativity but adding to our " little library" in our classroom and then construct projects based on our independent choices.
Young, urban and enthusiastic! My students live in an urban city across the river from NYC. Our school is uniquely diverse with students from around the world. Many have chosen our city/district because it affords their families opportunities that may have otherwise escaped them. My students are from low-income families, yet despite this, they are eager to learn.
Many of our students make the most of their high school experience even though finances may hold them back.
They can and do excel in academics and sports, many times winning scholarships for their achievements. As a teacher, I want to make sure I can contribute to their success.
My Project
By adding to our classroom library, we are adding to the imaginations of our students. Many of the books we have in our library are ones that the students have already read and are now in need of some new adventures! And once finished, fresh materials will help bring these books to life during our "Book Sale" as we try to "sell" our choices to fellow classmates! With fresh choices, students will surely deepen their appreciation of literature and build their stamina for independent reading. In building our little library, we hope to instill a love of the written word.
