My Students

I would describe this years fourth graders as curious, sensitive, and very serious about fairness and justice! In addition to core curriculum, we are working on controlling our emotions and having empathy for others. Time is precious and we are playing catch up in all content areas. It has been difficult to find the extra time to build a sense of community where students are successful collaborating with one another. To be honest because of the above description I have really avoided group work this year!

In our class it is our goal to value and stimulate curiosity.

Because of time and resources it can often be overlooked. Sometimes we don't have time to explore and share each child's comments and questions. I hope to instill a love of exploration and wonder!

My Project

It is my intent to create a 21st century workspace in my classroom where students are free to create individually and collaboratively. I want it to provide choices, be bright and inviting. I feel more often than not we are turning to our Chromebooks and technology verses giving students the opportunity to build relationships and work together. Through discovery and creative play students are more motivated to learn. Not only is it fun and relaxing, but it helps develop problem solving skills.

I want my students to have opportunities to develop and display their creations within our classroom.
