My Project

My Elementary Gifted and Talented Students (ACE) LOVE creative and logical problem-solving challenges. A great way to bring these engineering challenges to life is throught the use of several buld LEGO Classic building block sets.

Currently, our classroom has very few LEGO blocks, and not enough for every student to build creatively and freely at once.

Purchasing several of the large classic LEGO bulk sets will ensure that every student has an opportunity to meet the engineering specifications and creative aspects of their project or assigned challenge.

One project we are really wanting to incorporate is a "Disaster Island Challenge". First, students must build an island of LEGO. Once complete, the students draw a "Disaster Card". These cards contain all kinds of natural disasters (flood, tornado, hail, etc) that strike their island. They must then think of ways to overcome/rebuild their island to withstand this obstacle.

I know my students will LOVE lessons like these... but currently we do not have the supplies to make this a reality. We would love your help to make Engineering AWESOME in our classroom!
