Second graders learn a lot of academic skills through school curriculum. We have basic tools to teach these with. Capturing students interest in teamwork, negotiations, logic, critical thinking and even how to read a plan becomes much trickier.
Legos are one of the greatest ways to bring students together in fun, side by side play to learn how to work together.
They learn how to describe pieces as they analyze instructions. They learn how to spot mistakes a previous team has made when them pick up a build from a previous day. They learn about worthwhile frustration as they tear apart a build and put it all back together. Best of all they become closer friends as they negotiate who is doing what during the build. These skills are so important for their future. The Lego kits and storage boxes to hold the builds will be used in our weekly work together time. Together, we can build it!
