Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Writing can be a difficult task for some kindergarten students. They never know what to write about and ask for help. With LEGOS, they can build their own masterpiece and then create a story about it. What a fun way to improve our writing skills!
My kindergarten students attend a Title I elementary school in North Carolina.
Most of my them are bilingual, speaking English only at school. For many of them, their time in Kindergarten is their first time in an educational environment. Many parents/families work 2 or 3 jobs to provide the basic necessities at home. They want the best education for their children and help them as much as they can.
My Project
I am requesting 4 LEGO, 2 LEGO Brick boxes, and 1 pack of LEGO people. With all of these resources, my students will be able to show off their creativity! They can use the LEGOS during indoor recess when the weather is too cold to go out and also as a creative writing activity. They can build something with the LEGOS and then write about their masterpiece. Writing can be a daunting task for kindergarten students and the LEGOS will allow them a chance to build and have fun with their creation and then create a story about it. This will help to improve their writing skills. We can also use them when learning about shapes. They can build different structures using a variety of shapes.
