Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have an excited, energetic, talkative, amazing group of first graders! Twenty little students who have been virtual all last year, finally getting the experience of being in a classroom environment in which they will love to learn. First grade is a busy place where we are always working to balance social-emotional learning with meeting academic standards as well. Due to the pandemic many of our students have been affected health wise and mentally. Many students have lost their family members to COVID and need lots of extra activities and manipulatives to encourage learning. Most importantly I want to teach these children to continue to love learning and create a desire for children to become lifelong resilient learners.
Our first graders are a unique group of students, making a big shift between virtual kindergarten and with growing independence and learning.
My Project
My amazing first graders are ready and very excited to start utilizing their brains in a more engaging manner with STEM Bins through LEGO Education and Magnatiles. By adding additional LEGO kits & Magnatiles to my classroom, students will have more opportunities to work within the various areas of STEM fields. These LEGO kits & Magnatiles will allow for classes to have more opportunities with engineering, building, and demonstrating artistic abilities with LEGO/Magnatile creations. I would love to be able to offer more LEGO/Magnatile opportunities for my firsties to learn and grow.
