My Students

As a teacher in the 21st Century, I am doing what I can to support today's learners. I am a 2/3 teacher in a new STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) program within an elementary school. As a new program, we are looking to design and build classrooms and a program that meets the needs of diverse, 21st Century learners. Our STEM program serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade.

I teach a multi-age group of students standard curriculum which is infused into real world STEM situations and focus.

We will participate in collaborative learning experiences that allow us to design, invent, and think in an innovative fashion. Our core subjects (reading, writing, and math) will be integrated for a real world learning experience. Students will inquire about topics and research to learn more. Overall, we are working to teach students while developing 21st Century skills.

My Project

Our students learn content through the integration of STEM. We complete a variety of collaborative STEM projects to develop 21st Century skills such as collaboration, critical thinking and more. One area of STEM we want to develop in our program is our use of technology.

We want students to learn about technology, not just with it.

By incorporating robotics into our learning, students will get to learn more about how technology works. They will get to learn about coding, programming, and more. This will allow them to deepen their understanding of how to use technology for their learning and in the world.

By having these LEGO kits available, we will also be able to have after school clubs and allow students who are truly passionate about robotics spend more time developing their passions. This will allow more children to have opportunities to use this type of technology that they may not have otherwise.
