This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Student are in Cordova, Tn. Being a first year teacher, I assumed that I would be spending my time prepping and preparing my class for the upcoming school year. Because of the pandemic, it has made my expected norm turn into a new norm. Being virtual has allowed me to see the innocence of my students. They are fun, energetic and full of life on my screen. They love learning every day and I am so eager to find ways to keep their spirits high and the smiles going on their beautiful faces with every lesson I teach. My first kindergartners are resilient! I can see their love for learning every time I meet them on the screen. Their eagerness to learn makes me even more excited about the moment we finally get to come together in the class!
My Project
I want my students to build on their reading and word building skills.
The Twist and Turn Word Builders will assist with that.
The Twist and Turn will help the students to build words in a fun hands-on way. The Twist and Turn will give the students to use their hands to manipulate words. The Magnetic Color Maze will allow the students to work on sorting. Students will be able to improve their sorting of color skills.
The Sight Word Daily Journals will allow my students to practice writing and learning their sight words. I will be able to give the sight word books to my students so they can work on them at home while we are virtual. All these things will help with building their vocabulary and increasing their word building.
