Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What motivates a 5th grader more than anything? Technology! Every day students come to school eager to learn and explore learning to become independent worker.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and low-income households.
Many of the students speak other languages than English and use technology to help them be successful with the curriculum.
The students face many challenges outside of the classroom, but they are curious and eager to learn about our community and our world. In fifth grade, students need to be independent workers and learners. Technology in the classroom provides students access to the curriculum that they will not get at home.
My Project
Having a color printer in the classroom allows the students to print their reports, graphs, tables, and more in color to help represent their work. My students do not have access to printers outside of school and our school is not able to provide the class with a color printer. The speaker allows me to play videos, podcasts, audiobooks, educational music, and more. A lot of students are auditory learners and need extra modality to obtain the curriculum. I like to engage the students with all the different learning modalities and the speaker will allow me to tap into these different learning styles. The students can watch videos on different strategies for solving math equations and learn songs to help memorize the periodic table. The students can print their graphs in color or projects on atoms.
