This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Second graders this year are part of our budding Dual Language program at Bridges! Our classrooms are full of Spanish and English daily, but we are missing key phonics support and intervention for Spanish Literacy. We have a program in English, however we are lacking curriculum in Spanish. These students come from many backgrounds, including newcomers to the United States (two second graders arrived this week!), students working to learn Spanish as their second language, and students whose first language is Spanish or even Mam! This curriculum set and leveled readers are vital to setting foundations of biliteracy.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
