Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kids are full of curiosity, feelings, and energy. We are quickly developing a family like community where we show interest in all of the members in our group. We have a brand new preschool program with busy hands and bodies that are ready to be engaged in learning through play, exploration, creativity, routine, peer interaction and plenty of dialogue and music. We focus on language and cognitive development, creativity, explorations, hands-on projects (no worksheets whatsoever), team building, gross motor development and coordination. We enjoy singing, dancing, painting, pretend play and active outdoor play.
My Project
I would like my students to learn that many thing can be made by using machines. I also want them to learn about some commonly used machines.
With the use of simple machines and tools, I can help spark my students' interest in these and other machines.
I can teach my students first hand the importance, and process of making our own materials. Students will be able to decide the size, color and design of their self-made books and journals. They will take ownership and pride in what they make.
This experience could be the beginning of my students developing an interest in these and many more commonly used machines. My students will learn to ask about how machines work. They will think about the function and purpose of these and other machines. They will get to see the step by step process of using machines to make their designs come together.
