Our students are amazing kids with different types of severe disabilities. Our students have Autism, Down Syndrome and other disabilities. I work with students 1-3 with many fine motor and writing problems.
My students are really fun kids who like to explore the world around them.
They love learning but struggle with basic skills due to their disabilities. I have students that struggle to walk, struggle to express their wants and feelings, and have students that require a bit more time to grasp basic concepts. but that does not deter them. They continue to persevere until they get it.
My Project
I work with children with severe disabilities and most of them don't know how to write or need help with their fine motor skills. I will use these writing books to enhance my writing groups. I will use them in addition to the hand writing sheets I have. But this will give more variety to the program and give them extra material to practice on.
Each book will address the different levels my students are on.
It will make it possible for me to individualize their writing practice. The books will be used everyday in morning groups and in language groups.
