Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My special needs students are 99% low socioeconomic children, who give the best they can give with their disabilities. Our school is located in a poverty area where students take pride in their everyday achievements. Students take advantage of what they are learning and try to apply it to everyday life. The majority have limited resources at home and are eager to get to school to use what they need. They are truly special students because they do not allow their disabilities stop them from learning. They love to learn and share what they have learned.
My Project
My students enjoy reading and listening to nonfiction books about what we can do to save our Earth. We would use NGSS Grade 4 Complete Collection of 38 books to learn about what types of power are available for us to use. They would learn about the effects of global warming and what steps they can change right now to have a better future. Some of the books are about adaptation and they would apply what they already know and learn new concepts. In our class we take pride in learning how to make our world a better place to live in. Every small step we do to change will help.
