My Project
I want my students to become stewards of the Earth by learning about recycling and caring for their community.
I am asking for some books about recycling so my class can have an Earth Day Read in.
My second graders live in an urban environment, and they need to learn the importance of taking care of our wonderful planet. I plan to stage a Read-in after recess by reading and discussing This Class Can Save the Planet as well as How the Crayons Saved the Earth. I am also asking for some books so each child in class can have two books to take home and discuss with their families.
I want my students to learn that every day is Earth Day and recycling is something they can do every day to help our community. After our read-in, I plan to have students use their crayons and construction paper to create mini-posters to put around the school.
Our school has no funds for this type of creative project. Please donate and put my students on the path to becoming more aware.
