Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our class is a loving community full of eager learners. Every single student in this classroom is hungry to push their thinking, learn more, and read all they can. My students are hard workers that crave learning. They guide their learning and pursue their interests. In this class, we wonder and we explore. We ask questions and we try to find answers. We make friends and build community.
As lovers of learning and full of zest for life, our community of 26 students grows stronger every day.

My Project
As part of our daily independent reading block, students go to the library, select books, and read them. It is usually students' favorite part of the day! To continue to augment their love of reading, I want to create a classroom library that is warm and inviting. Our current set-up is the library with a linoleum floor and students return to their desks to do their independent reading.
The vision for this project is to create a cozy library space with a carpet and comfy pillows.
The idea is that the library space becomes the place where students go to share books with one another, cozy up with a book, and even read during recess if they wish to.
