Learning to Read Should Be Fun!

Help me give my students engaging books, phonics materials, a Bluetooth speaker, and working headphones.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I am continually amazed by the creativity, intelligence, love, and energy that my students possess. They truly are my inspiration and they teach me just as much as I teach them.

I teach at a Title I school in Utah where many of my students receive free breakfast and lunch every day.

Despite difficulties in their lives, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

My Project

These supplies will enhance reading instruction in my classroom. They will help to engage my students and make learning to read a fun process. With these supplies I can vary the activities that I use in reading instruction. Using a variety of different learning tools will help to engage my students and keep them excited about learning to read.

The books I am requesting will give my students engaging books to read and practice with.

The sticky notes and magnetic wands will engage students during phonics lessons. We will do word sorts using the sticky notes and will practice blending words using the magnetic wands and magnetic chips. The heart magnets will be used during our "heart word" routine as we talk about the parts of words that have to be learned by "heart". We will use the mirrors during phonics instruction to see the shape of our mouths as we make the sounds in words. My students will use the headphones when they record and listen to themselves read. I will use the Bluetooth speaker as I listen to my students' reading videos. These supplies will make learning to read fun and engaging for all of my students!
