Learning to Read and Write Tricky Words

My Project

In first and second grade students learn to read and write over 177 "trick" words as part of our foundational reading skills curriculum. One way we support this practice, and build fluency, is to have a trick word challenge.

I am requesting card stock to make trick word flashcards for students to keep on a key ring with their name on it.

Students keep one key ring to practice with at school, and another key ring for home. As the students learn sets of words, they get to add new words to their key ring. Students will have over 177 words on their flashcard key ring when they complete the challenge. I am also asking for colorful card stock to be able to make awards for students each time they learn a set of words that they can hang up in the hallway. I can't wait to see our walls flooded with awards showcasing their achievements!
