Learning to Make Choices

Help me give my students items to encourage and increase choice-making and leisure skills. We need a dressing room set and a camper set.

My Project

My unique learners are learning so many skills. One major skill we work on is making choices to foster independence in our students.

In order to make this a fun skill to learn, we give the students the opportunity to make their own choices during leisure time.

Students are able to choose between various leisure activities such as computers, puzzles, library, and free-choice tubs. The free-choice tubs contain fun activities for students to interact with.

The wooden sandwich set, the vet playset, the wooden doll dress-up, the dressing room set, the vet playset, the camper set, and the pool set will all provide unique opportunities for our students to make choices.

Students are able to interact with these items and be creative while also following simple visual and verbal directives. Having items for choice time helps to foster independence in our students which carries over to making life choices as the students grow and develop.
