Learning to Love Sight Words!

Help me give my students colored paper and cardstock to print morning bin activities, and color coded sight word activities that will help my students improve their reading skills.

My Project

Our school is unique because of our diverse staff and student body. Our school district can best be described as one happy family. Thirty-three languages are spoken throughout the district. My students are special because they are immersed in an environment where we teach them academics and how to embrace the diverse student body. We are teaching our students to be kind and tolerant at an early age so they can become amazing people when they are older. My young scholars are struggling with sight words, and I want to do everything I can to help them learn their sight words.

Sight words recognition is crucial for reading success, and the resources in this project will help me provide printable games, and and hands on games that will motivate my students to learn sight words.

I am requesting colored paper to print sight word list to send home. In class I use a color system to introduce sight words, and having access to colored paper helps me to teach these words in an organized and engaging manner for students. Additionally, we have a "Sight Word Money" contest, where students collect "Sight Word Money", and are challenged to learn the word for prizes.

I am also requesting Sight Words Wooden Magnetic Fishing Game, Pint-Size Scholars Sight Words Pizza Board Game, and Hasbro Connect Four Games for students to play at my small group table as a part of my interventions for my students who are struggling. I strongly feel these games will not only support learning, but they will support critical thinking, and social skills .
