This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
When did you start to love learning? How would your life be different if you had never encountered that spark? The love of learning is a life-long gift. For many of my students, they are just beginning to discover this gift. My goal is to give them resources, opportunities, and support to ignite a spark.
Our classroom community is one of encouragement and acceptance.
My students are fourth graders in an urban, public school. Our classroom is an inclusion classroom for students with special needs. This means we have both general education and special education students in our class. We have a diverse community with various needs.
Student interests vary between sports, singing, art, fashion design, and nature, but all students are interested in technology. My students want to succeed. Some might say that many of my students will have a difficult time overcoming obstacles in their lives, but I believe that my students are more determined, capable, and spirited than most. I believe that instilling a love of learning in each student is one of the best gifts I can give them.
My Project
I want to learn how to implement passion projects so that my students can learn about their interests while also learning reading skills. I would also like to integrate technology in new ways to increase student engagement.
My greatest desire is to learn how to encourage students to love learning.
This requires a different approach to lesson planning and teaching. These books provide inspirational ideas to implement in my classroom. By implementing new ideas, my students will benefit by building relevant skills and realizing the excitement behind learning. Helping my students become life-long learners is a gift that will bless them for years to come.
