My kindergartners come in everyday so eager to learn and try new things. Development is so important at this age and I love providing them with a variety of ways to excel. My students are so intelligent and full of potential, some face different milestones like trauma and poverty that prevent some to live up to their full potential.
Our school is in the main metropolitan area and is considered Title 1, with 100% of them qualifying for our free and reduced lunch program.
My students have shown the ability to overcome these challenges as they show so much maturity and growth throughout the year. School is considered a safe place for my students and I want to give them the ability to create a bright successful future for themselves.
My Project
These materials, iPad's, will allow students to interact and learn with technology that is so prevalent to their generation.
Students will use iPad's during center time as a listening center where they will be able to research and listen to stories aloud to further knowledge and reading skills.
Students will also be able to use iPad's to practice phonics and reading skills that are being taught in the classroom. It will also give them the opportunity to work on school programs more frequently in smaller increments to move towards further growth. Math with also be implemented and they continue classroom lessons through new technology.
Another benefit to having iPad's in the classroom would be for parent, teacher, and student interaction. I would like to use "Seesaw" to interact with parents, but also allow students to interact and share with parents throughout the school day. This app will allow students to send pictures to their parents and keep them involved with their education. The teacher will also be able to individually communicate with parents as well as update the class as a whole. It will allow the teacher to send school work and assessments with parents and provide them with insight to their students education.
Having iPad's in the classroom would be extremely beneficial for the students, as well as for parent/teacher communication.
