This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my classroom, we have the first book of this series, The One and Only Ivan. The students have really enjoyed this book and I think having the other two books in the series, The One and Only Bob and The One and Only Ruby, will get them even more excited about reading!

Novel studies are a great way to extend learning!

With these books, students are pulled into small groups during the week during our intervention time block. The students and I spend time reading, discussing, and doing activities that extend the reading skills that are taught during class time. These are also a great way to motivate those who are reading above grade level.
