This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sensory play in early childhood plays an important role in brain development because sensory stimulation is essential for sensory integration and cognitive development. (Bundy AC, Shia S, Qi L, Miller LJ).

Creating a classroom environment that provides a variety of sensory items and activities will assist in, improving language skills, social skills, fine and gross motor skills, assist with self-regulation and most of all having fun.

The students will have the opportunity to play with Tactile Liquid Letters while learning their ABC's. When anxious or frustrated the child can use Foam Sensory Paint not only to calm down but also learn to spell their name, numbers and colors and shapes. If a child enjoys music the Rainbow Sound Blocks are a perfect way to engage with the child.

Sensory play incorporates a child's senses. Within the classroom, children are able to enhance their senses: touch, movement, sight, and hearing. Not only can sensory play be fun, but it is great for calming children that are feeling anxious or frustrated.
