My Students

I’m so incredibly blessed to be teaching first grade this year. My students love coming to school and are always so excited to be here. I teach in a Title 1 school where we strive to provide our students with the best educational experience possible. I am inspired by the research surrounding the importance of play in a child's life. This research has led me to have a Reggio-inspired classroom. I believe in providing an educational experience that will provoke creativity, imagination, exploration and wonderment.

My Project

The students in my classroom will be able to use these sensory materials in various ways. Each item will enhance the student's learning through hands-on exploration and wonderment. Sensory exploration helps to build a child's motor skills, language development, and problem-solving skills. These items include sand, rake tools, modeling clay, and a light box.

Items such as the sand and water beads will give the children the opportunity to develop their fine motor skills in a unique an interesting way.

Sensory items stimulate many of the child's senses, such as touch, smell, sight, sound, and much more. Sensory activities actively encourage children to use scientific processes while they create, investigate, and explore.

My students are eager to explore more sensory items and use them in our classroom, daily.
