My students are the reason that I am excited to go to work every day. Although there are days that are stressful, I am pretty sure that these are the greatest first graders I have ever met. These kids work so hard and have such a desire to learn, and to earn my approval. I am grateful to have such eager learners in my class. As we dive deeper into curriculum and meeting content standards, these students don't skip a beat on their willingness to try their best.
Although no classroom is free from behavioral issues and problems, I have focused on building relationships with my students in order to gain respect, trust and encourage growth in learning.
These students show up everyday knowing that it is a new day and they are capable of anything they set their little minds to.
My Project
My students love stories! These books about Kindness will help them stay engaged and promote whole group discussion. Whole group activities are a huge part of our day. We begin with morning meeting and we often talk about social skills and character during this time. I want to give my students the opportunity to learn through stories of others and be able to self-reflect.
My students love playing teacher.
Giving them the opportunity to write on white boards for practice and repetition will greatly impact their learning. The whiteboards are a necessity for student practice as well as anecdotal documentation of student understanding.
