My Students

My students are young, full of energy, and ready to learn when they enter my classroom! We are a Title 1 school, and with families from a variety of backgrounds.

Kindergarteners are eager to learn, and they are naturally inclined to want to EXPLORE, COLLABORATE, and use their IMAGINATION!

They learn SO MUCH through play by using their senses, questioning, and experimenting. This is also how they develop positive social skills with their peers. It is my goal to help nurture their natural curiosity!

My Project

Research shows what teachers already know: kindergarten students need to play! This project would provide a variety of materials to enhance the student's independent choice time they have each day with their peers.

Kindergartners learn most effectively through exploratory play and open-ended discovery with their peers.

I want to provide opportunities for more imaginative play with a variety of materials that will encourage math, science, and engineering thinking. These include blocks, magnets, figurines, and a variety of connectors. The Picasso Magnetic Building Tiles benefit a child's critical thinking skills, problem solving, imaginative play and creativity. They also help with motor planning and spatial awareness, which translate over to the Phenomenal Science units in Kindergarten. The Gears, Gears Gears set helps promote creativity, fine motor skills, early engineering, cause and effect, and sequential thought! By building in play to our day with these materials, my students will be developing both problem-solving/cooperation skills and academic knowledge that will benefit them for future school success.
