This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Early Childhood Special Education is a unique group of little learners with different abilities and goals.

Each one of my special learners is unique but they all have one thing in common- their love for learning and exploring.

My classroom is about building skills to get included. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day.

My Project

Our favorite time is carpet time! Having a comfortable area that is big enough for my little ones to learn and explore is so important. This is when we get to practice all the skills we’ve been learning- letters, counting, patterns, and most importantly social skills!

This new rug will allow my little ones with sensory needs to learn and explore in a comfortable and safe area.

When the rug is not being used at carpet time, it will double up as a cool-down area where my student will practice self-regulating strategies that will aid them in being successful in a general education setting.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
