As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are smart, creative, spontaneous, and full of energy and have a love of learning!
They like to move around, sing and are little sponges that crave knowledge and to be challenged daily. Many come from single-parent families and don't have a lot of outside experiences to draw from, so I try to give them every opportunity that I can.
My Project
These STEM and recess activities will keep my students engaged and learning, even during playtime!
Children can still be actively engaged and learning, even during play or station times!
LEGOs, Play-Doh, pattern blocks, and Ker-Plunk will help these students use their imagination, problem-solving, math and fine motor skills during both instructional and non-instructional times of the day!
Games like Mr. Potato Head, Simon, Perfection, the farm set and Don't Break the Ice will help students with teamwork and communication skills.
Children learn best through play and the best part is that they don't even realize that they are learning, they are just having fun!
