I will be teaching kindergarten this year after teaching 2nd grade for 6 years, and I truly believe this year will be something very special. Things happen for a reason, and I am confident that they need me this year. Some of my students are coming to school for the very first time, and I want to help foster their independence and love of learning over the course of the year.
Every student is interesting, unique, and deserves the best that the world can offer them.
I believe it is my job to prepare my kids for life to the best of my ability, and I see such potential in each and every child that has ever been a part of my classroom.
My Project
Kindergarten is a time of learning academics as well as learning through play. I would like to add some fun learning manipulatives to enhance their learning during center time.
Problem solving skills, fine motor skills, creativity and expanding dramatic play will benefit from the materials in this project.
The lacing beads will help my students' fine motor skills, and the beads are big enough for little hands to hold on to. I have wooden blocks, but Legos will allow my students to build more complex designs. The costumes are just the beginnings of the dress up space I would like to have in my room, but I picked these because I have children who have already shown an interest in these occupations. The play food and pots and pans will allow children to be able to more accurately imagine creating in the housekeeping area. Who doesn't love dinosaurs for pretend play? My kids would be very excited to have these materials. The Clorox and Lysol would ensure everything stays clean and everyone stays as healthy as possible.
