My Students
My students this year are curious and excited about learning. Just today, a student asked me what size a human is in relation to the sun! With that curiosity and enthusiasm, comes high energy and a need for play! I love that my students are creative and problem solvers.
Our school is in Wasilla, AK, and my students are passionate about the outdoors and nature.
They love to fix things and model problem solving real life situations. More than a third of our students are from low-income households, so many do not have access to educational toys in their homes.
My students are all different, but one aspect of learning they all enjoy is play and making learning a game! Our motto is "Work hard, play hard!" I'd like to reward these students for their hard work with some fun educational toys and kits.
My Project
Research shows strong links between creative play and language, physical, cognitive, and social development. When children learn through play, studies have shown, it takes less time to develop or learn the skill or concept.
Math fact pens and cards are fun for students, and will increase engagement and enthusiasm for learning these required skills.
The drill kit is a special incentive for students that thrive on hands-on exploration, those that like to build and create!
I'm very excited to include some engineering and STEM kits in this project. I think the "Survive the Earthquake" kit will be a big hit!
