This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am an educator servicing a Title One funded preschool in southern Alabama. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students often arrive at the beginning of the school year as “blank slates”. For the majority of my students, this will be their first year in a school setting, exploring and overcoming challenges not only inside the classroom, but outside the classroom as well. We will spend this academic school year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need as they move forward throughout their educational career.
"Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I remember, Involve me and I learn."
As a result, exposing my students to various forms of interactive learning will allow them to explore various educational interventions through hands-on activities that will ideally help foster their academic success and their ability to become prominent influential members of society.
My Project
Learning is always fun, especially when play is involved. Hands-on, interactive learning has proven to be an effective way to substain knowledge of various skills.
Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head have always sparked creativity and interest in children of all ages.
My students will explore the use of the potatoes to create new designs, silly faces, and outfits. Students will be able to interact with one another as they develop communicational skills and share with eers their designs.
The Leap Frog Fridge Phonics, numbers, and word building sets will motivate students in applying what they know about skills required to be proficient readers in Kindergarten and First grade.
