My students need dolls and costumes to create a dramatic play area in our classroom.

My students are kindergartners and first graders who are bright, inquisitive, and ready to learn. We work hard and play hard every day!
My classroom is a cognitively busy place, with students who work hard to learn and care for each other.
In our multicultural classroom, students represent 8 unique language and cultural groups. Over 75% of my students are English language learners, and 80% qualify for free and reduced price lunch. My students are excited about learning; and with the right tools to support them, they can have a successful year.
I am asking for materials to create a dramatic play area in my classroom. Dramatic play allows students to build important social skills while having fun, and is an important component in a kindergarten classroom. My kindergarten students get daily "choice time", during which they can choose their own activity and play together. A dramatic play area would allow them to act out their ideas and play cooperatively, and would get daily use.
Even though the kids may not realize it, play is real learning work in a kindergarten classroom!
Dramatic play especially allows students to act out different situations and develop their social skills. Kids who spend time playing with peers are learning to problem solve and work together. They get creative with their story lines, and communicate while doing so (which is especially valuable for my many students who are learning English). They even practice writing and reading skills as they act out their stories- doctors write notes, police write tickets, families read and write shopping lists, parents read the babies bedtime stories, and as many more scenarios as their little minds can imagine! Young children can learn so much from their play time, and a few well chosen props can make play even more impactful.
