My students need more sensory actives to enhance their exploration learning. Through sensory play children develop play and pre-academic skills. This sensory table and tools will help fulfill the educational needs of my students.
Our Head Start program provides services to low-income families. The students and families I serve come from diverse backgrounds. However, we all work together towards a common goal, supporting the successful development of young children. In my classroom I teach a double session of students ages 3-5, with a total of 34 students. My students are hands on. They love to be fully engaged in every activity we do. At Head Start we strive to meet the needs of every student.
My Project
A sensory table and tools will provide a great service to my students developmental needs. Sensory play improves engagement and learning through a multi-modality approach. Instead of learning new vocabulary through paper and pencil work, students learn through experience. Sensory play and activities use all of your senses, resulting in the children being more engaged.
Sensory activities foster exploration and encourage children to use scientific processes while they play and explore.
Sensory play demands the use of fine motor skills because children must use their hands to interact. This donation will meet a need and make a great gift to my students.
