Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has over 800 students on the elementary side alone, most of which are underprivileged and have no access to many of the resources within our school library outside of school. Due to extensive moisture damage, we have lost all games and a large number of books, leaving students without the opportunity to enjoy collaborative, educational play and discovery. These games will be used as incentives and reward. Students can enjoy these games during free time they earn as a result of perfect attendance, good grades and good behavior. Students will visit the library during these times and engage in educational play while being rewarded. Students will also have the opportunity, once again, to check out these games and use them at home with friends and family. In addition, I'd love to develop a chess club and introduce students to a new skillset, team play, comradery and added school spirit., with the goal of eventually entering our school and students in competitive play. With the chess sets and additional games, students will have access to a fun way to learn phonics, spelling, vocabulary, counting, math, logic and strategy. Help our deserving students have access to these fun, learning tools.
